NJ Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism – June Events

Faith for Pride
Pride will be here next week! This year, the RAC is joining our interfaith partners to launch Faith for Pride, a month-long effort to highlight religious support for LGBTQ+ equality. If your congregation is planning a service or event for Pride Month, please fill out this form to register your event with Faith for Pride! Reach out to Eisendrath Legislative Assistant Rachel Klein (rklein@rac.org) with any questions.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1 | 3-4:30 P.M. EDT
Please join us for the upcoming program “Beyond Welcoming: Addressing Racism, Homophobia, Ableism, & More in our Communities (REDI 101)”. This session will help participants start building stronger communities and transforming the ways they can create meaningful Jewish experiences for people of all backgrounds. Our co-facilitators for this session will be URJ Director of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Yolanda Savage-Narva (she/her) and URJ REDI Program Manager Rachel Hall (she/her).

ONGOING
Apply for a Kraus Immigration Justice Mini-Grant!
We are now accepting applications for the next round of Kraus Immigration Justice Mini-Grants! To support and encourage our congregations’ essential work to support immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees, we are welcoming applications for Kraus Immigration Justice Mini-Grants in amounts up to $5,000. We are particularly concerned by the current Ukrainian and Afghan refugee crises. Applications are being accepted through Friday, June 10, 2022. Learn more and apply now!

TUESDAY, JUNE 14 | 7 P.M. EDT
Join Keshet, WRJ, and the RAC to learn how current trends in anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-abortion legislation are interconnected with threats to bodily autonomy and how we, as Jews, can be active allies and fight against these bills. Plus, hear from a Jewish transgender teen, an educator, and a medical provider about how the current political landscape is affecting their lives. Advocating for LGBTQ+ rights is a mitzvah — join us to act upon and live in our Jewish values fully this Pride Month.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15 | 8 P.M. EDT
Join us for a virtual foundational training focused on how to engage in the Every Voice, Every Vote campaign as a leader of your congregation and community, and as an individual activist. This training will include the core relational organizing principles that will enable you to build and strengthen your voter engagement team, engage in effective partnerships, and combat voter suppression through an anti-oppressive lens.
If you are interested in learning more about Every Voice, Every Vote and how you can participate, this training is for you!
