The Talmud tells us that there are many things that have no measure, but that “the study of Torah is equal to them all.”  At Sha’arey Shalom, we are proud to offer learning opportunities for congregants of all ages.  Our commitment to education does not end in the Religious School but rather begins with our youngest members and continues through adulthood. Our fall classes include:

The subject for the fall is "Who Is Adonai?"

While we are always working to provide new adult learning programs, below are a list of some highlights:

Shabbat Morning Study Minyan
A stimulating weekly gathering that alternates between study of a section of the Torah portion of the week and study from other sources. Beginning at 9:15am, the session concludes around 10:30am with a brief service.  To learn more about this informal and fulfilling weekly gathering, click here.

Adult Choir
As is a Sha'arey Shalom tradition, most services are enhanced by the inclusion of our choir.  Under Cantor Daniels' guidance, our choir is constantly adding to its rich repertoire. Newcomers are always welcome, with rehearsals usually on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 8:00pm.

Adult Beginner's Hebrew
Adult Beginner's Hebrew is offered throughout the year. Contact the Temple office to sign up for the next session

Yoga Shalom
A monthly alternative worship service that combines the two powerful disciplines of Jewish worship and yoga practice.

Jewish Seniors of Springfield
Comprised of senior groups from all three Springfield congregations, JSS offers lecture series with Eugene Lieber, Ben Nelson and Christopher C. Gibbs as well as other activities during the year.

Be a Friday Night Torah Reader
There are many opportunities for adult congregants and post B'nai Mitzvah students to chant Torah at an Erev Shabbat service.  Contact Cantor Daniels for all the guidance and preparation you'll need.
